Carbide Products, Inc. operates a state-of-art CNC Sinker EDM department equipped with the finest Swiss equipment and manned by a team of highly trained, experienced and motivated personnel. All our departments functions as a TEAM… Most CNC programming takes place off-line for improved efficiencies and programs are permanently stored on our network. For quick response one of our machines, the Agie Spirit is equipped with a rapid, icon driven programming system as well as the ability to pull programs from the network. This adds to our flexibility. Each sinker is complemented by its own dedicated second operation lathe with Erowa chuck to match the machine spindle. This allows the operator to turn and redress electrodes on the fly without machine down-time or scheduling conflicts with our machine shop for fabricating electrodes. In this department all machines are connected via Ethernet and technicians pull programs from the network to stage multiple work-pieces and multiple projects on our machines. The programming department is readily accessible to our team of machinists. Our programmers are trained and experienced EDM technicians first, and then trained as programmers, not the other way around. And they function as an integral part of the TEAM so that they are directly involved in the execution of the programs they write. It is commonplace in our shop to have the supervisors and programmers tag teaming with technicians in the EDM studio, working on machine setups, tooling or planning with the team. They may also be running EDM’s to meet the team goals for production or quality if necessary. Our goal is to serve the customer and we do not draw hard lines on job descriptions, we are a team and everyone is a team player.
Carbide Products, Inc. manufactures high precision machined component parts, tools and dies from all electrically conductive materials. Available to our EDM team are one traditional servo driven and two CNC sinker EDM’s, offline part setup stations, manual tool-room vertical mill, tool-room lathes, second op lathe, drill presses, EMD hole popper, optical comparator and more. All machines are equipped with Erowa spindle tooling and probing. Our larges machine is equipped with a 56 station electrode changer for complex and/or high volume jobs. The flexibility built in to our management system allows all team members to contribute to the success of a project and the company as a whole.
